Help with complex parts questions

Expert automotive parts consultation

An unreadable label, conflicting supplier references or an unclear catalogue diagram can make a parts enquiry difficult to resolve. Send the VIN, explain the question and attach the available evidence. VIN Expert reviews the case and provides a written conclusion based on the information that can be established.

Written consultation for vehicle owners, workshops and parts businesses. VIN Expert does not sell or ship parts.

When does a custom consultation help?

Use this service when your question needs a tailored investigation beyond a straightforward vehicle data, OEM number or compatibility request.

Unclear component identity

You have photos, a partial label or a diagram but cannot clearly describe which component needs researching.

Conflicting references

Different suppliers or documents list different numbers, and you need help understanding what each reference represents.

A case with several unknowns

Vehicle details, catalogue notes and information about the fitted part need to be considered together before the next step is clear.

Build a useful enquiry

  • Provide the full 17-character VIN and state the exact question you want answered.
  • Describe the component, its location and what prompted the enquiry.
  • Include every relevant reference exactly as supplied, with its source.
  • Attach clear photos of the whole part, its labels, connectors or mounting points where relevant.
  • Add the relevant catalogue diagram or PDF document and mention any known component replacements or vehicle modifications.

The request form accepts up to 5 image or PDF files, with a limit of 5 MB per file and 20 MB in total. Cover unrelated personal information before uploading.

What will the conclusion explain?

  • What the available catalogue information and supplied evidence establish about your question.
  • How the relevant references or catalogue options relate to the case, where this can be determined.
  • Which details remain uncertain and what additional evidence would help resolve them.
  • A practical next step, such as checking a label, supplying another photo or asking a workshop to inspect the fitted component.

A conclusive answer depends on source coverage and the evidence supplied. Photos and VIN data cannot establish every physical detail of a vehicle.

Research guided by automotive parts experience

Ivo Baharov reviews enquiries using over 20 years of experience in automotive parts. Professional manufacturer catalogues, PartsLink24 and EPC systems are used according to the vehicle and available coverage.

The work focuses on parts information and catalogue interpretation. Mechanical fault diagnosis may require testing or inspection by a repair workshop.

Example: two suppliers provide different numbers

Suppose two suppliers suggest different references for a component on the same vehicle. Send both references, their descriptions, the VIN and any photos of the fitted part. The investigation can check whether the references describe different variants, an assembly and a separate component, or a documented replacement number where the catalogue provides that information.

This is an illustrative enquiry, not a completed customer case. Different numbers alone do not prove that either supplier is wrong.

From an unclear question to a written conclusion

  1. 1

    Submit a custom enquiry

Create an account or sign in and choose Custom automotive research in the request form. Add the VIN, your question and supporting files.

  2. 2

    Clarify the scope and price

We review what needs researching and ask for missing details. For a paid custom request, you receive an individual quote for approval before research begins.

  3. 3

    Read the findings

The written result is published in your request. It explains the findings, any remaining uncertainty and the information needed for the next step.

An individual quote for your case

Custom enquiries vary in scope. The price is quoted for the specific research required rather than taken from a fixed parts-count package.

Questions about expert consultation

How is this different from an OEM number request?

An OEM request asks for original references for specified parts. A custom consultation is for a broader or unclear case where the question, conflicting evidence or catalogue choices need individual investigation.

Can I submit photos without knowing the part name?

Yes. Include the VIN, where the part is located and what you want to establish. Clear photos of the whole component and its label help us understand the enquiry.

Can you guarantee that every case will be resolved?

No. Some questions cannot be settled using the available sources and files. The result explains what is established and which details need further evidence or inspection.

Can you diagnose a fault from a description?

This service researches parts and catalogue information. Symptoms alone may not identify a faulty component. Mechanical diagnosis can require workshop inspection and testing.

Do I need to speak English on the phone?

No phone call is required. Submit the enquiry and communicate in writing through the request. You can use English or Bulgarian.

How much will a custom enquiry cost?

Paid custom enquiries receive an individual quote for approval before research begins. Your first request as a newly registered client is free; later requests follow the normal pricing.
