Expert vehicle parts consultation

OEM part numbers by VIN

Find the original part number for your vehicle before ordering. Send your VIN, a description of the required parts and any available photos. VIN Expert checks your request manually using professional OEM catalogues and provides a written result.

A written expert consultation. VIN Expert does not sell or ship parts.

Who is this service for?

For vehicle owners, repair workshops and parts businesses that need to identify a part before ordering.

Vehicle owners

Identify the original part number before buying a replacement.

Repair workshops

Clarify the required part for a repair using the vehicle VIN and available technical information.

Parts businesses

Get help with catalogue variants and unclear part descriptions before preparing an order.

What should you send?

  • The full 17-character VIN.
  • A clear description of each required part and its position on the vehicle, where relevant.
  • Photos of the part, its label or a catalogue diagram, if available.
  • Any known part number and relevant details about the vehicle or repair.

You do not need to know the OEM number to submit a request. If more information is needed, we will ask for clarification.

What will you receive?

  • A written result identifying the original part number or numbers established for your request.
  • Relevant catalogue notes about variants, position or applicability, where available.
  • An explanation of any uncertainty or additional information needed when the part cannot be identified conclusively.

The result depends on catalogue coverage and the information supplied. Some requests require additional details or cannot be resolved from the VIN alone.

Manual catalogue checks backed by over 20 years of experience

Requests are reviewed personally by Ivo Baharov, who has over 20 years of experience in automotive parts. Checks use PartsLink24 and original manufacturer EPC catalogues, according to available coverage.

This is a manual research service. It is not an instant automated VIN decoder.

Why are the model and year sometimes not enough?

Vehicles with the same model name and registration year can use different parts. Production date, engine, transmission, equipment and market specification can affect the catalogue selection.

The VIN helps identify the vehicle specification. Photos, labels or additional vehicle details may still be needed to distinguish between catalogue options or account for previous modifications.

Frequently asked questions

What is an OEM part number?

An OEM part number is the reference used in the vehicle manufacturer's parts catalogue to identify a component. Similar-looking parts can have different numbers and applications.

Can every part be identified from the VIN alone?

No. The VIN is the starting point, but some catalogue choices require photos, labels, equipment details or other information. We explain when a conclusive identification is not possible.

Do I need to provide an existing part number?

No. A known number can help, but it is optional. Send the VIN and describe the parts you need.

Is this an automatic or instant service?

No. Requests are checked manually using professional catalogues. The service provides a written expert result.

Do you sell the parts?

No. VIN Expert provides consultation and part identification. You purchase the parts separately from your chosen supplier.

Can you also check compatibility or aftermarket alternatives?

Yes. Fitment verification and aftermarket alternatives are separate request types in the existing request form. Choose the service that matches your question.

Is the first request always free?

No. Eligibility is determined by the system for your account. The request form shows whether your first request is free and displays the applicable price.

Is this a vehicle history report?

No. This service identifies requested vehicle parts. It does not retrieve accident, mileage or maintenance history.
